Souvenir

A certain melody often reminds us of a special moment when we heard that same music. A beautiful memory then has a musical souvenir forever! How did Tchaikovsky, who could write perhaps the most beautiful melodies of all, translate his memories into music?

Tchaikovsky's "Souvenir de Florence" feels like a tumultuous summer journey. Pynarello already gave a taste of this for a packed waterside at the reopening of the Utrecht canal and during the steamy NYE party in TivoliVredenburg, but during this Souvenir tour all four movements for chamber orchestra can be heard in a new arrangement by Hugo Bouma.

Program

P.I. Tchaikovsky - Souvenir from Florence in arrangement by Hugo Bouma for chamber orchestra for Pynarello.

About Pynarello

Pynarello consists of a headstrong collection of musicians and has been storming classical stages, various festivals and venues you would not immediately expect with full conviction and energy since 2017. This has not gone unnoticed! About their performances of great symphonies - by heart and without a conductor - press and audience were unanimously enthusiastic. In season '22 - '23, Pynarello Ensemble was in Residence at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht.

Pynarello goes for experimentation and dares to let go of certainties. This is not just a gimmick, but stems directly from Pynarello's mission: to substantively question existing conventions in classical music, and the search for innovation, change and depth. Three EPs have since been released: A Lock without a Key by Thomas Beijer, featuring soprano Laetitia Gerards, No Man's Land in collaboration with saxophonist and composer Kika Sprangers, and Gallowstreet Royale in collaboration with brass band Gallowstreet (Live at the Concertgebouw 2019).
