Talk That Science is a science-communication platform run by a group of science and music enthusiasts. Every month, we broadcast a radio show on echobox.radio, in which we talk about cool research while playing some nice tunes. You can listen to our previous shows here.

To celebrate our 3 year anniversary, to launch our brand new website, and to connect with our show’s guests and listeners, we will be hosting a Talk That Science event in De Sering, Amsterdam this June 10th. It will be a day full of science talks, live music and food.

Talks

Sera Markoff is professor of Theoretical High Energy Astrophysics at the University of Amsterdam, where she specialises in the study of black holes. In 2019 she took the first picture of a black hole, together with a group of fellow scientists. During the event, Sera Markoff will enlighten us with the her knowledge on black holes.

Fleur Bouwer is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Cognitive Neuroscience of Music. Before going into academia, she used to be a performing clarinettist herself. Currently, she focuses on how we perceive and produce rhythm. During the event, she will tell us about her findings on the science of rhythm.

Music

Riesberg

Riesberg’s blissful combination of ice-cold mixing skills and warm sound are guaranteed to make any crowd melt like butter. Their seamless, genre-hopping selection will have you guessing where the music is going to take you next.

Classical Love

Classical Love’s performances embody deep currents of emotional states that never cease to explore subtle nostalgic moods and evoke heartfelt messages. With a passionate embrace of the sensual side of music, she invites listeners on a journey of pure musical bliss.

Deboleena

Like the scientist Fleur Bouwer that we have on the program earlier in the evening, Deboleena has a strong interest in rhythm. With the knowledge in mind that we just learned from Fleur Bouwer before, it will be exciting to listen to Deboleena’s picks.
