'Hot Stuff' is back.

Next edition: 17th March, Doors open at 15:30 and the event starts at 16:00.

Be invited to a musical journey that delves into one of the most urgent issues of our time: the climate and ecological crisis. 'Hot Stuff' is a series of music, a come together with delicious vegan food, a place for discussion and an invitation to stand together, dancing, shouting, crying, screaming and enjoying. Receive it as a present, a light point in dark times.

Above all it is also an empowerment to action through the elements of Earth, Water and Fire.

• Earth on 21nd January 2024: Listen to rhythms that resonate with the pulse of our planet. Stand up, hold each other and remember our interconnectedness with nature.

• Water on 17th March 2024: Immerse yourself in melodies and rhythms that mirror the fluidity and fragility of our water ecosystems. Let’s cry together, embracing our own waters and mourn for this crisis.

• Fire on 21 April 2024: Get ready to be engulfed in the fiery passion of music that echo the urgency of climate action. Feel the heat of commitment to protect our planet. Feel the vibrance to scream and stand up for action.

Let Blue Dog stir your soul with his "Songs of the Anthropocene". Through joy and mourning he muses his way to the conclusion that it is worth carrying on, despite the darkness. This one-of-a-kind artist from Amsterdam sings beautifully sharp lyrics about these confusing times, while accompanying himself on the piano with compositions full of melody, harmony and soul. But he plays polkas as well.

For almost ten years Blue Dog has written about how people treat each other and the planet. What began as self-therapy to deal with the 'Anthropocene' (the age of mankind) has led to over 40 songs and 3 albums that attempt to capture the essence of our time in words and music. There are singalongs such as Roast Together, razor-sharp raps like Water uit de Kraan (water from the tap), and on his latest album there are 12 fresh songs, like the vivacious We Sterven Uit (we are going extinct) about climate change, and Ri Chun Hee about the enticement of fascism.

Blue Dog often performs at XR events. He has written several protest songs. Het also frequently performs in the underground cabaret-scene in the Randstad. Go to bluedog.amsterdam for more information about this artist.

'Deep sea minded' is a sonic investigation into the deep sea for drums and electronics by Thomas Jaspers. The deep sea is the most inhospitable part of nature on our planet. The pressure there is immense, the darkness complete. It is also home to the most wondrous of creatures. It is one of the few parts of nature that remains untouched. But the question is: for how long? Jaspers finds inspiration in light, darkness, stillness and the emptiness of the deep. He also finds it in the incredible cacophony that humans will produce once they start mining the deep sea for precious metals. Through sound he attempts to bring this world to life. Thomas plays drums in several experimental jazz and improvisation groups. He also campaigns against Deep Sea Mining with Ocean Rebellion as part of  grindcore metal band 'The Polymetallic Nodules'.

'Octopus Sessions' - is a musical journey in poetry, song, looping layers, landscapes and beats by Leela May Stokholm (she/ her) and Marik de Koning (they/ them).Diving through the waters of our collective consciousness – Octopus Sessions is an ode to water that connects, touches, comes and goes. A co-created fluidity of weaving the moment into an ark. To hold us before the dykes break.

Leela (DK/GB, born in India) is an independent performance artist, writer, singer, mother and visual artist. Her work combines her love for nature with life as a journey through inner emotional landscapes. She teaches Voice improvisation at the Mime School in Amsterdam.

Marik is a multifaceted musician and artist. They can be found playing jazz standards in big bands, to electronically producing activist songs. They are fascinated by the magic of improvisation and how awfully hard it can be to let go.
