EXHIBITION: DOE NORMAAL, things are already strange enough

In the official Dutch immigration lingo, “foreigner” is translated as “vreemdeling” which literally means “stranger” But what is so strange about someone who is not from here?

In this small exhibition on the walls of Testtafel, Turkish artist Cenk Güngör is displaying his observations of a “normaal” way of living in Amsterdam through his riso-printed cartoons and illustrated wall pieces. His character ‘Garip the dog’ is in the center of these visual stories, representing any foreigner in Amsterdam. Whether fully integrated or completely baffled by ordinary things. Expect to see a pinch of cynicism and satire, yet don’t take anything personal.
